I typed my domain name into my browser window but my site won’t come up. Why can’t I see my site yet?

If you have requested a new domain name during sign up, or if you transferred an existing domain name to us for management, please keep in mind that your domain name will not be visible on the internet instantly. New domain names can take 2-3 days to propagate (meaning the interwebs all need to learn and agree on where your new name lives and how to locate it when someone types in your URL.) Transferred names can add another several days to this waiting period.

Within 24 hours of signup, we will turn on your website so you can begin adding your content, and send you an email that will give you a temporary URL which you may use to view and edit your website until your real domain name has propagated. Beginning about 48 hours after your site is turned on, you can check to see if your actual domain name is visible by typing your domain name in your browser window. Once your site is visible using the actual domain name, you may stop using the temporary URL.

If it has been more than a week since your purchase and your own URL isn’t connecting to your site when you type it into your browser window, please open a support ticket on our website and choose the ‘hosting’ option. Be sure to include your domain name or temporary URL in your message, and we’ll be happy to check on the status on your domain name’s propagation.

If you are managing your own domain name, please see our How-to article on domain pointing for steps you will need to take to correctly point your domain name to our nameserver.
